Beach Volleyball Makes a Great Outdoors Sport |
| 3/17/2010 1:39:26 AM |
I had no intentions to play beach volleyball this past weekend, it sort of just happened after a long night. I ventured down to the coast for a roommate of a friend’s birthday. They live literally 100 yards from the sandy shores of a clean Southern California beach. Not all the beaches around here are clean. Like I wouldn’t want to walk barefoot in the sand around the well traveled Venice strip. Anyway, we got out there on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The weather was 80 and an open net awaited us.
As far as outdoors sports go, beach volleyball is tough. Running around in the sand is a little bit easier then trying to walk in ankle deep powder. In no time I was wondering what happened to all that cardio I’d been doing in the gym. Panting like a dog, we played a game of 2 vs. 2 to 15 points. It was close but we lost by two after a valiant outdoors sport effort. I was not brave enough to go in the ocean still being cold but it was a relaxing afternoon to say the least; after catching my breath from the outdoors sport.
