My husband were doing a little outdoor camping last weekend with two of our best friends deep in the national forest about an hour from our home. The guys had been teasing us all night about how the bears roam wild in the forest and that we should be scared if we start hearing any weird noises. Sure enough, in the middle of the night, I heard something. Immediately I woke my husband and said I’d heard something and commented that this is what I didn’t like about outdoor camping. He grabbed his cell phone and called our friends, who we thought were stirring in their tent next to ours. My husband asked if they’d heard anything and he said they had. After all the stories I was worried that it was a bear so I didn’t even want them to leave the tent, but they took a flashlight and went.
When I’d spent all that time online ordering the outdoor camping equipment for us, the last thing on my mind was that we would run into a bear or hear noises in the middle of the night. A few moments later my husband asked for the camera and then came back and showed me the outdoor camping culprit, a raccoon, who apparently was just looking for a little food.
