camping and hikingFor Memorial Day weekend, one of my friends flew home to spend it with her family in the Pacific Northwest. Prior to leaving, she told how excited she was to go hiking with everyone on Monday. I also wanted to go camping and hiking over the weekend. I accomplished one of those goals yesterday after trekking up a canyon goat trail not far away from where I live. From a difficulty standpoint, it was moderately easy because of the incline during portions. Because it was 80-degrees outside, I was panting like a dog by the time we reached the top. After getting home I texted my friend to see how her hike went. She replied quickly by saying it rained but it was awesome.

There is distinct difference between camping and hiking in Southern California compared to the Pacific Northwest. There is huge tree canopy coverage up there. If it rains here while camping and hiking, you feel every drop. There much of the precipitation bounces around the foliage before getting to the ground. Rain or shine, camping and hiking proved to be popular over Memorial Day weekend.
