Outdoor Camping and Cooking |

I believe that outdoor camping and cooking go hand in hand. After a day breathing the fresh air, hiking, fishing and playing horseshoes what is better than a hearty meal cooked in the outdoors? I alway bring my dutch oven when outdoor camping. I use it to prepare some savory stews. I start with a good beef roast, water and bullion cubes. Then I add seasonal vegetables and let it all cook until it falls apart.
My family loves camping hiking and they can work up a fierce appetite. You know life is good when you return to camp to the aroma of food cooking in the dutch oven. I like to make fresh rolls over an open fire and serve the stew over them. I make enough stew to feed an army. No one ever goes hungry with my outdoor camping meals.
The finishing touch to an outdoor camping meal is samores. Who doesn't like roasting marshmallows over the campfire, adding them to graham crackers lined with chocolate bars? If you don't like it all together there's got to be at least one part that interests you. I often do the roasting for the little ones but they love putting it all together and chomping it down. |
