I did not bother with camping and hiking when I lived in Britain apart from the couple of times I went to the Lake District. Camping and hiking are activities I took more of an interest in after I came to the United States and married my husband David. The US has so many unspoiled areas of natural beauty that it would be a shame not to enjoy camping and hiking activities during the good weather months of the year, which are just about here now. I actually really enjoy camping and hiking. I love being in the middle of wilderness because I feel like it allows me to reconnect to some primal part of myself that often gets ignored when I am at home and have access to all the modern conveniences. I will definitely make time for camping and hiking this spring and summer. It is something that I, my husband and my three step-grandchildren will all do together. You see my husband and I feel like enjoying outdoor activities together as a family helps to keep everyone close.
