Outdoor Camping in Mountains for Last Time This Season |
| 9/15/2009 2:35:39 PM |
My kids want us to go outdoor camping this weekend and we will probably go. The weather is going to be perfect, so it might be the last best weekend to hit the road and go outdoor camping. We think it would be nice to get away, and my work this week is light so I'll have time to prepare the food and clothes. Before we go camping, I cook some meals up at home and then freeze them. They stay frozen for many hours in the cooler and it sure is an easy way to eat meals outdoors. I'll cook up all the family favorites like chili, green pork stew with rice and beans, and make some potato pancakes before hand for breakfast. I usually buy some sliced ham and eggs, too, since breakfast is our largest meal.
The nights are getting into the 40's in the mountains now, so when we are outdoor camping having a warming campfire is priority one. The night before we have a roaring campfire and there are usually coals left over by morning and the first one up has to stoke the fire back to life for that first cup of coffee. |
