With the weather cooling off it is the best time of year for outdoor camping! The days are cool in the wooded areas and the nights are perfect for sitting around a huge campfire. Plus all the summer fire restrictions have been lifted.

Outdoor camping has always been a favorite past time for me and my family. I know the kids have many happy memories of carp fishing, camping hiking and over the campfire family meals. 

Each child had their own fishing rod and could not wait to make those early morning predawn hikes down to the shore of the lake and fish. We seldom kept the catch. The kids enjoyed releasing the fish back into the lake and could swear the one they caught this time around was one they had gotten before. It became a game with us!   

Everyone looks forward to the nightly campfires! Outdoor camping just isn't outdoor camping without a fire. We always made a project of the kindling and wood gathering. Often we scouted fire worthy logs on the trek back from the lake. My husband would take the kids back to the log along with the chain saw. Together they would cut up the log into burnable pieces and lug them back to the campsite. 

By this hour is was dinner time! I usually had something started and everyone else would jump in to complete the preparations. Yes, the weather is ready for outdoor camping. It is Time to call the kids and grandkids and get going!
