carp fishingIt may be getting cold and even snowy in some places of the country but if the rivers, streams and lakes are still flowing so will be the fish. Carp fishing in the winter is a hobby of many people including the guy in the video below. He lets viewers know what he is Carp fishing with in the frigid Chicago River. He reels in a nice big Carp that even has frost on the tail. I was asking a fishing friend if there was anything different he does while Carp fishing this time of the year. He said more or less it is the same as long as the right bait is used.

 

One of the most interesting bait techniques he uses is caking the bait with ground down parmesan cheese. He couldn’t tell me why fish like it except they just do. It was a trick his dad told him. He also said leave egg based baits at home. I have never even used any sort of egg for Carp fishing but it’s good to know not to start now. Moving around is important too especially in lower water areas.
