Night Owl 4 x 24mm Night Vision Monocular
Most outdoors sports take place during the day or underneath a field’s flood lights. Growing up I found some of the best outdoors sports took place with only moon light showing the path. Things like carp fishing, capture the flag, paintballing, airsoft or flash light tag. Some of these games are less of a sport and more of a juvenile game but they still get the blood pumping like driving a basketball into the lane for a layup.
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest out in the woods where when the sun goes down the unlit streets get very dark. Like all suburbia, there were miles and miles of houses, yards, trails, fields and perfect places to get the friends together for Capture the Flag, paintballing or airsoft. Each of these games we employed the help of night vision. I was never lucky enough to have my own pair but a couple close friends did and we were always on the same team.
You would be amazed at how far we took Capture the Flag outdoors sports. The neighborhood we played in was build around a bunch of cul-de-sacs off the main neighborhood roads. In that cul-de-sac was a center island with plants lit up by streetlights. This is where the flag went. A half mile or so down the way in another cul-de-sac another flag would be placed. We played in teams of six. We all got decked out in camo or dark camping and outdoor gear you would expect a hunter or military servicemen to wear. Faces painted black we ran in and out of backyards on the way to win.
The games were played late into the moonlight. My favorite position was attacking the flag but not before lying in the tree line with night vision like the Night Owl 4 x 24mm Night Vision Monocular I found within the camping hiking of OLIS Outdoors at http://www.route66megamall.com/.
It is amazing how many situations are made better with night vision. I think just about every kid would go bonkers if a night vision was wrapped under the tree. What surprised me about the Night Owl Monocular is the waterproof feature. I don’t know if I would be comfortable dropping one of these in a stream but I wonder if it would work under water. According to the product description, this specific night vision has a linear field of view of 56 ft at 200 ft. Just about all outdoors sports at night is more exciting when night vision is in the equation even Carp fishing.
