Carp Fishing at Pot Holes |
| 7/7/2009 6:33:08 PM |
I grew up carp fishing. These watery little guys are common to freshwater spots like lakes and ponds. Carp is a broader name for many different types of fresh water fish. I have a very vivid memory of going Carp fishing in a place called Pot Holes, Washington when I was 14 years old. It was a mom’s weekend where a few family friends got together, brought the kids and drove over to Eastern Washington. The mom’s were not anglers so us kids were sent to the docks to bring back some Carp fishing dinner.
It was the only fishing experience where I had more bites then room in the bucket. It was around 5 pm, a friend Jerry and myself threw our lines off the dock and within minutes had our first catch. The night before we had collected a can full of huge night crawlers for bait, the carp must have thought it was a five star dinner wiggling around near the surface. It was like we could do no wrong, every single time the bait hit the water a fish would bite. Some were eatable size but others were just a bit too small. They all went in the bucket and within an hour and half of Carp fishing, we had easily a dozen fish. Even after only keeping the larger, our bucket filled to the brim with Carp. Brimming we lugged the bucket back to camp smelling of fresh fish. Our mom’s couldn’t believe it. It must have been the worms.
