outdoor campingToday I ordered a set of four of these espresso cups online and am looking forward to getting them. My husband and I like to camp with our good friends from Las Vegas and every afternoon at four, we brew up some espresso for a late afternoon pick-me-up. After an afternoon of hiking, we need a jolt of caffeine when we're outdoor camping to start getting dinner together. We had been using our fancy metal espresso cups but we ran the risk of breaking them should they fall to the rocky ground, so when I saw these, I thought they'd be perfect for our afternoon sipping. Another nice thing about these for outdoor camping is that they are insulated, so the espresso will stay hot longer.

We only camp in the winter and keeping the espresso hot is a major benefit.  I'm not crazy about lukewarm coffee so I'll really enjoy having these GSI 1.75 oz. Stainless Steel Double Walled Espresso Cups. They also have handles that collapse and fold against the outside of the cups so they won't take up that much extra room in our camping gear. We have the perfect espresso pot for outdoor camping that we use to make it. It's stainless steel, too, and brews two cups at a time. We fetch some coals from the fire and set the espresso maker on them. After a short while the water boils and the steam evaporates into the espresso coffee grounds and then the liquid collects in the top chamber, and voilà, we have perfectly brewed espresso for outdoor camping.

We even have a few snacks with our espresso because we're usually a bit hungry after the hikes, too. One of my favorites is sliced apples with cheese and whole grain crackers. Then we stoke the fire and start planning dinner. When we're outdoor camping, we give ourselves lots of latitude for eating since we are burning many more calories than when we're sitting around the house. Our favorite dinner is a hearty homemade soup when we're outdoor camping full of nutritious vegetables, meats, and starches.
