carp fishingI have not strung up the pole for a while but this winter heading out for some Carp fishing sounds pretty good. I have been doing research about Carp fishing in the winter. Some of the tips I have picked up are worth sharing. Carp along with many other fish slow down when winter temperatures cool down the water. They don’t hibernate but as my buddy who went to school for Zoology said, “they slow their movement and eating habits in the winter.”

Catching them this time of the year is all about figuring out where they regularly feed and then casting in a line with some solid bait. I have also been told that moving around more then usual while Carp fishing in the winter is a good idea. I have been in search of winter bait ideas. It seems like every angler has a different opinion on what works the best. Some say store bought baits are the best others have had better luck with homemade baits. I think it all comes down to finding the right Carp fishing hole. Luckily, in SoCal it doesn’t get to cold so it will be easier to brave the elements.
